There’s no denying that the fantasy genre is captivating and enthralling. Rife with wizards, warlocks, kingdoms, and dragons, it’s absolutely magical and phenomenal. It takes readers on an adventure that is only possible in their fantasies; bringing a transcendental world to life.

But these are just a few great things about the genre. Why should everyone read a fantasy novel at least once in their lives? That’s a great question. We’ve listed a few great reasons below:

A Magical World

Since fantasy stories are more complex than other genres, the world the author creates is intricate and intriguing. From vastkingdoms to magical lands, each fantasy story offers something that other genres cannot—a beautiful and majestic world that enthrals the reader and takes them on an adventure of a lifetime.

From rival nations who have had bad blood between them for decades, coruscating creatures who roam the skies and land, to the powerful secrets and the line age of the protagonist, fantasy novels offer something powerful that only exists in a mythological world.

No Restrictions

Unlike other genres, fantasy has the potential to keep expanding. There aren’t any restrictions. Some things happen because they can.The characters and the story isn’t bound by scientific reasoning and that’s what makes the storyline so interesting.

While there are rules that need to be followed, these rules are created by the author. These rules exist in the realms of the magical world created by the writer.

The writer can create their world, people, mystical creatures, and even their own language.

A Mix Between Coeval and Antediluvian

What makes fantasy truly stand out is that the author can blend the old and new. They can mix the present with history and viceversa.

Although the genre is not bound by the constraints of reality, it is often inspired by history. For example, medieval fantasy is asubgenre where stories are set in the medieval world or have key medievalin fluences. Cruel and tyrannical kings, chivalrous knights, an unstable feudal system etc.

These are a couple of reasons why you should pick up a fantasy novel. Speaking of which, if you need a recommendation, we’ve got you covered!
